Mini-incision total knee arthroplasty

If you are one of the millions of Americans suffering from knee pain, you may be a candidate for a minimally invasive procedure for knee replacement also called total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Using modified techniques and instruments, surgeons use the same clinically proven implants used in traditional surgery, but place them through an incision one-half to one-third the size.

Potential benefits of the mini-incision knee replacement include:
-Smaller incision size- 4 to 5 1/2 inches vs. 7 to 12 inches with traditional surgery
-Less disruption to tissue
-Ability to perform some exercises one day following surgery
-No difference in complication rate
-Some patients may experience less pain
