Nissen fundoplication In this minimally invasive procedure, the top portion of the stomach is wrapped around the back of the esophagus until it is once again in front and sutured to form a “collar” around the valve at the base of the esophagus. It creates a one-way valve that lets food pass into the stomach, but prevents stomach acid from flowing into the esophagus, thereby preventing GERD. |
